How long does diffuser oil really last?
Bottle life, refill time, and lingering fragrance are three different questions.

“How long does it last?” is a sensible question before buying fragrance oil, but it can mean several things. You might want to know when the reservoir needs refilling, when the bottle will be empty, or how long a scent remains noticeable.
Those are related experiences, not interchangeable measurements. Looking at each separately gives you a more useful way to plan your routine and compare products.
Separate how quickly you use oil from how long you notice the scent.
Bottle life: how long your supply lasts
A Cleaning Day bottle contains 16 fl oz, or approximately 473 mL. How long that supply lasts depends on your device’s oil use, intensity, and operating schedule. There is no single bottle-life figure that fits every setup.
Think about actual consumption. A machine running longer each day can use a bottle differently from the same machine on a shorter schedule. The bottle size tells you how much oil you have, not exactly how many calendar weeks you will get from it.
Refill time: how long the device’s reservoir lasts
The reservoir may hold much less than the full bottle, and different devices hold different amounts. Your device’s manual is the place to check its capacity, fill limits, and operating instructions.
A claim about a bottle should not be read as a claim about one reservoir fill. Likewise, the time between your own refills will not necessarily match someone else’s, even if you use the same fragrance.
Lingering scent: what you notice in the room
Based on supplier information shared with Cleaning Day, scent can linger up to 100 hours. The scent fades over time and may be faint toward the end. Duration varies with the fragrance, diffuser, settings, and room conditions.
This is not a promise of 100 hours at full strength or a guarantee that every fill lasts 100 hours. A faint remaining fragrance and a device actively producing the intensity you prefer are different experiences.
Use your own refill pattern as a guide
Note when you begin using a bottle, which device settings you use, and roughly how much oil you add at each refill. After a few normal refills, you will have a more useful estimate for your home than a general claim can provide.
For illustration only, if a setup used 10 mL a day, 473 mL would provide about 47 days of oil. At 20 mL a day, it would be about 24 days. These are arithmetic examples, not measured Cleaning Day consumption rates or recommended daily amounts.
Compare value using the same units
Compare bottle sizes and prices using a common unit, then consider how you expect to use the oil. Check whether an advertised price applies to one bottle, a larger bundle, or a subscription option.
A routine you enjoy at a comfortable setting is more useful than chasing the largest possible duration number. If your refill rate changes unexpectedly, check your schedule and device maintenance rather than immediately assuming the fragrance has changed. Our troubleshooting guide walks through that process.
